When Should You Replace Your Battery?

Watch batteries do wear out. So, when should you replace them?

Here are some common questions people ask about batteries for their watches.

I am not sure if it will work with a new battery

We will test your old battery in the watch. If it’s running low, we’ll replace it with a new battery. We won’t charge you if the watch doesn’t work with a new battery.

If the watch needs repairing, we can also quote for that, too. 

How long will the battery last?

The life of a battery also depends on the watch itself. Some brands of watches last longer than others. Also, a battery in a newer watch can last longer than the same battery in an old watch. 

The longest period of a battery life we’ve seen was 7 years since the previous one was changed in our shop. 

And yes, we can tell how long the last battery was changed if it was changed by us.

You may need to decide whether it’s worth replacing the battery in an old watch, or if it’s time to consider getting a new watch.

Do you replace batteries for Longines watches?

We replace batteries for any brand from cheaper watches to very expensive watches. Our staff are all well trained and have years of experience for dealing with all types of watches.

How much does it cost to replace a battery?

We work with all brands and movements: Japanese movements, Swiss movements, screw back watches etc. 

And you can get your battery replaced by our experienced team for less than $20.

Should I replace the battery myself?

You really shouldn’t replace the battery by yourself. It’s better to leave it with experienced people, who have proper tools,and are aware of the pitfalls.

If you accidentally damage your watch yourself, it’s going to cost you more to fix the watch, (if it can be fixed). We’ve set our prices at a rate you can afford, so that you don’t put your watch to unnecessary risk.

Is the battery under warranty?

If the last battery was done by us, we can check if it’s under our guarantee. And don’t worry! You don’t need to find the receipt.

How long does it take to replace the battery?

Depending on how busy we are, usually 10 to 20 minutes. Some of the very complicated watches can take up to 30 minutes to work on. And if there are 4 or 5 watches before you come, it can take longer.

We have a friendly atmosphere in the store, so if we are a bit busy, we’ll make sure you feel at home while you’re waiting.
